My laptop has XP Media Edition, but very bad speakers. If I hear anything, I need external speakers or headphones. For the price, this three-piece Altec Lansing speaker system does a good job. The end result is good, well balanced sound at a low price.

    Now the caveats:

speakers that require a source of external power, I would have expected to turn up the volume a bit more. Listening to CDs or MP3s on my modern PC I can upload the sound high enough to fill a large room without distortion, but seeing an old movie (eg vintage 1930) I can turn the volume all the way and the picture is barely audible. Other speakers I’ve used seem to have that problem, but were more expensive.

This compact system can be a shelf or desktop, but it is small and not expected to be portable . The assembly is lightweight but solid enough. The subwoofer is about the size of a box of Kleenex Boutique elongated, the satellites are about the size of Campbell soup cans.

There are lots of cables, too. The right satellite, with one on / off and volume control buttons, has four separate cables: 1) wiring to the satellite, 2) to the power wiring to the audio source (computer or player MP3), 3) an outlet to connect the cable from the subwoofer, and 4) a cable jack for AC adapter. That’s a lot of cable from the back of a soup can-sized speakers!

The wall outlet is in the AC adapter. Something to consider if you’re already using outlets for PC, monitor, printer, and any other devices you need – a power strip can have multiple outlets, but this can be used over and conceal another.

If none of these observations is a deal breaker for you, then the low price and good sound are a good value.

After spending big $ on Bose speakers for my unit only to die in 2 years and both load Bose for repair out of warranty, it would be better to buy new ones – I swore I would never spend that kind of money again. Good thing – because I do not have that kind of expendable income! Among these speakers Altec Lansing.

I like to have the right to control the speaker manual if I have to turn down suddenly to see if a phone is ringing or what the dog is barking around.

not hear sound when the volume is up – something that commonly have cheap speakers. The discount usually a “you get what you pay for” experience. . . suitable for a small cube at work, but not much else. Not so with these little power houses. Am I comparing these to Bose? No. They do not try to be in the same class as the ultimate luxury speakers. I’ve used a number of low-cost speakers before, however, and these are the best I’ve used. I think these are performing better than my JBL Duets, which tend to rattle when the volume is to Zúñiga. The subwoofer lets you feel what they can not hear. . . the basis that it is too much for most satellite speakers faithfully transmitting where you can feel as much as you hear it.

computer speakers low cost (or even a iPod!), The landscape is crowded with competitors – the cheapest are usually just that – cheap. Altec Lansing has done a good job in making a set-up that is attractive, it uses a small desktop footprint and has a good sound that is affordable.

I chose these as a temporary solution for my PC sound. My decision to buy this was mainly due to my previous experience with an Altec Lansing ASC 495 system. It is not yet available on Amazon, the BX1221 speakers were purchased at Walmart for $ 24. 95.

The first time I’ve installed these are horrified by the dull sound, it left them speechless. After playing with the EQ software that came with my sound card that finally struck in an environment that provides much more crisp and the bass well. Then I went to work in the equalizer and WOW settings in the Windows Media Player. Once all the playing was very surprised I finsih the smooth sound of this little budget system.

Altec Lansing says they are compact for a desktop full of people. Small, yes. Compact, No. Due to the design of large desktop units that actually take up more desk space than any previous speaker I’ve had. They are about six inches long so take that into account before you buy.

    Pros:
“Darn good sound once they are in line with your preferences < , br />-Low Price-adequate diet

    Cons:
-volume control is a wheel at the top of the speaker derechointerruptor
engine stop is a line on the back rotory speaker
left right speaker connects to the right through a speaker wire short, no less than 42 “, which allows a lot of separation
“No separate volume control or adjustment available to the sub-woofer

I buy them again under the same circumstances? probably . If you’re short of cash are a good value. They are far from being a bonus system, but the installation is simple, but they are just plug and play to the right of the box. If all you want is an update of 2. 0 speakers that came with your computer, it is likely to be happy with the BX1221. Once I get moved I’m going back to my child. 5 1 surround sound system, but until then I can still hear my songs without servile sound quality.

I had the opportunity to evaluate these two speakers and Altec Lansing speakers for the players Computers/MP3 Crystal-Clear Sound (Black) from side to side. Both sets of speakers are about the same price range and about the same quality but with a different style. This set has 2 satellite speakers with stands tubular fixed and a small subwoofer. I tried this game with my laptop, TV, and iPod.

Generally, this set of speakers is fine if you want to base an update portable speakers small, or want some cheap speakers for your iPod. The sound is fair and will distort if bent too. Interestingly, these speakers do not benefit much from the addition of small subwoofer as the rapporteur that is down, it’s really like a regular speaker turned upside down. Placed on a carpeted floor, low-end (what there is of it) is completely lost. There is also an on / off switch mounted on the rotating back of one of the satellites, and the volume control is on top of one of the units.

The other set I evaluated, Altec Lansing speakers for the players Computers/MP3 Crystal-Clear Sound (Black) has a slightly better sound quality, especially in low volume levels, which I found to be very useful in a work environment. It has a combination of on / off volume control on the front of one of their speaker units (no subwoofer as set), and also has a separate tone control.

Here is a list of characteristics of both sets of speakers and I preferred to set up for each category (I refer to as “3″ speaker “and” 2 “speaker”):
< br /> | Price: Both speakers are $ 5 from each other at this writing DRAW =
    | Controls: 2-speakers
    | Style: I prefer the set of 2 speakers, but I realize that this is very subjective and others may like the set of 3 speakers. If you want a compact size, consider the fact that the subwoofer on the 3-speaker is rather ineffective and therefore occupies a space unnecessary.

I can assess these 3-1/2 stars, but they are a decent inexpensive set of speakers, but only a couple more features that the series 2-speaker had.

preferred the set of 2 speakers, but I encourage you to to check out the other series that I evaluated and see what others have written about them and decide for yourself.

For the money, these Altec Lansing speakers are a good deal, with an attractive industrial chic style – if you are looking for a three-piece speaker set.

The third piece is actually a controller for bass extension of a subwoofer, as it will not low enough to be called a sub. But it extends the scope of the system at the lower end. If you are looking for a compact set of three pieces, this is a good option, because the bass extension unit is small enough to fit many places – many people will be able to fit on your desk or a shelf if desired. < , br />
The speakers are a step up from cheap speakers that often come with a computer. Being a music fan, I recommend spending more to improve your speakers if you listen to much music. Altec Lansing are considered a “value” offering.

But if the style, price and three-piece configuration to suit your needs, these speakers can be a good match.
