What is the EASIEST way to setup a Linux Web Server?

I have a need to host some websites and have tried to do an evaluation copy of Server 2K3. And while I have been more than a few simple sites, I find it hard to do something advanced, such as create a simple and off the mail server on the envelope, or get run scripts option I am considering PHP.Una is whether a simple (ie total Newby friendly) Linux version might work. Does anyone have a recommendation on building a Linux system that includes a web server, mail server and PHP compiler (or what is the correct term is) someone who never used Linux can be installed, configured through a kind of magician reasonable “, connect the source files and then go from there? Thanks in advance!

I would recommend trying Ubuntu server. I have not tried it myself (only Ubuntu workstation), but Ubuntu is very newbie-friendly and has good support in the forums (which can be found at www. Ubuntu. Com).

Remove any Linux build, kind of Apache, PHP download from the Internet and pay for a domain name. Voila! You have a Web server.

I am using SUSE Linux, actually 9th 2, which is a late version, in particular, on my own and the networks of multiple clients. “All of these have at least one place, was to run a database based on the Web, one that used to run a complete fabrication shop, including order management, distribution of working hours, etc., from around the world. Using YaST management tool is very simple To configure the Apache web server, the server and the client window with Postfix mail server (I use this in conjunction with Dovecot IMAP server and Squirrrelmail) and to use SMTP to ensure receipt of e-mail. If you have created databases of user control that makes automatically configure your e-mail users, permit users to access their own portions of the site of administration, and in some cases, control user access to Windows services. TGE also has facilities for RAID software, even if they do not think about until you get experience but it can make a re-install the server to implement it. The only thing I like best to do manually, but to learn the system is copying the default network configuration area Apache la / etc/apache2/vhosts. d directory and then change the domain of individual preferences and save all as a separate domain. conf, and include / etc/apache2/vhosts. d / *. conf, so you can create, modify and remote areas without the risk of other areas affected. If you choose to go this route, contact me for advice .
