Linux Video Editing Software – What an Open Source Sony Vegas Looks Like

This quick tutorial will teach you how to put together a video complete with titles, transitions and effects! It’s easy to learn the basics of video editing, especially in Linux! The program I used is called Kdenlive, It’s like Sony Vegas, except it’s free and open-source! www.kdenlive.org

    I tried kdenlive a while back on Ubuntu – yeah yeah, i know – and I fell in love with it at first. Till my project go longer and it started taking up more and more memory!

    Then it started crashing every so often, so I had to do a change, ctrl-s, phew, it saved, then go on, only just managed to finish the project.

    kdenlive will be an excellent alternative to programs like Vegas but only once it is stable.

    Outstanding! I’m still on OS X, but there goes another reason to feed money to Apple, Adobe and Microsoft.

    Proposing the motion to give the honorary title of geekculture’s »Linux Lass« to NixiePixel. Who supports the motion?

    @SilverxBaybee
    If you’re using Ubuntu, you can put this command in the Terminal app:
    sudo apt-get install kdenlive

    And it’ll automatically download and install it.
    Terminal is under Applications, then Accessories.

    Alternatively, you can click Applications, then Add/Remove…, then search “kdenlive” and click install.
