DIY Mac Laptop AC Adaptor Extension

Apple has really screwed up the AC adaptor that they provide with their laptoms. I’m referring to the fact that if you want a longer cord, you’ve to add on a bulky attachment. The cord is so thick, that it usually doesn’t fit in standard laptop bags.

At Kevin Kelly’s Cool Tools they have discovered that a Sony Playstation power cable fits perfectly into the slot and keeps the load light. It wraps up easier than a jimmy hat and lets you leave your official Apple cord plugged in at home, meaning the convenience factor also makes this a bitchin’ find. Give it a shot if your laptop bag is low on space.

An Affectionate HeartBeans Coffee-Grinder

This HeartBeans coffee-grinder is meant for the coffee connoisseur who believes making a great cup of coffee is nothing but an art. The artistic coffee-grinder operates according to the user’s heart-beats. A personal product from quality mahogany, with a built-in motor, controlled by an apparatus to measure the pace of the beating heart (HBM, Heart Beat Monitor); also included are peripheral electronics that bind it all together and allow it to work. This machine gives a physical expression to the emotional say of the user. Its design which requires you to hold the grinder in similar pose to holding a baby or a musical instrument, very affectionately enables you to experience intimacy with the process of making coffee.(Duh!) And, as the grinder adhere the heart-beats, it produces a different taste with each use. The choice of wood is made to impart the device a natural and warm look. Other components were integrated, such as a LED to transform light beams and a receiver LED to tunnel the information to other parts. The final artifact features a wiring board by Hernando Barragán.

This project was developed and produced by the students (Adi navwany , Michal shamsian , Itamar paloge and Danielle ram) of “Food for Thought” course at the Bezalel academy for arts and crafts. So, get ready for not just a great cup of coffee, but an experience.

Automatic Mahjong Table

Technology is making us so lazy that now we don’t even want to roll out the dice to play a easy game! Why play the game? Rather just watch bots play on your behalf and then credit their victory to your name. I don’t concur to this complete automated lifestyle but if you guys do then here’s one more automated entertainment option for you from China. If you like the game Mahjong but hate to set it up to play a game the Automatic Mahjong Table with Light Magnetism that can be controlled by Microcomputer is the answer for you. By automatic it actually means that you don’t have to shuffle the tiles, nor you have to stack up the tiles, and the height of it is that you’re not even needed to roll the dice. Now I didn’t like that dice part. Rolling dice has always been fun!

Adopting the working principle of electricity, light and magnetism, and it is controlled by microcomputer programs. Thus it can effectively achieve the automatic shuffling and dealing of mahjong and poker tiles, and automatic dice tossing without effort. It used two differently colors mahjong and poker tiles with magnetic. I suppose the table keeps two sets of mahjong, so while one set is in play, the other set is under the table getting organized to rise up via four rectangular elevators. The site also states that it is a Green Product. Sized at 95 x 95 x 75cm it can have a plastic or wooden body and consumes 100W of power. Offered in choice of red, black and silver versions, this automated Mahjong weighs 100kg.

Earth’s Outer Limits

Space Junk

And to think that humans have only been in space for half a century. The European Space Bureau has released images showing all of the junk we have orbiting the planet. Space litter, if you will.

Circulating the globe right now is about 6,000 satellites, only of which 800 are still operational, not to mention tons of other crap left from previous launches, and probably a bag of doritos or two. According to the ESA, all of the space crap floating around isn’t a good thing as space clutter could put spacecraft at risk, and something should be done.

Million dollar Holden on the block

April 6th, 2008

holden

General Motors’ Australian subsidiary, Holden are known for making some really fast, rear wheel driven, muscle cars. And in the process, a few Holden cars have become Aussie legends. Now, we have an oldie, the 1948 Holden FX that is all set to go under the hammer for a whopping $1.2 million. Sixty year old Holden sits at a New South Wales dealership and an offer of $900,000 for this vintage beauty has already been rejected by it’s owner, Charlie McCarron. The whopper of a price for the FX is mainly due to the fact that this is one of the three only surviving models of the FX. The car has higher trim compared to other FX’s of it’s time as it had safety rims, leather trim and passenger sunvisor, all for one pound extra. The FX has a 2.15 litre engine pumping out over 60 horses and has a fair bit of history surrounding it. Read the rest of this entry
