Nokia N97 Review

May 28th, 2009
Nokia N97

Nokia N97

The new Nokia N97 smart phone is one thousand thousand of the priciest mobile devices out there. It is so powerful that Nokia is not simply referring to it as a cell phone – or even a smart phone. No, they have deemed this new device to be a “mobile computer”. It’s packed with many advanced gadgets that James Bond himself would be happy to have, but despite the powerhouse of features, this phone isn’t marketed as an “amazing touchscreen device” (though the touchscreen does work just fine).

It seems that touchscreen smart phones are the current trend right now. Ever since Apple, the trend setters of technology, came out with the iPhone, almost every single mainstream phone has had a direct knock-off of Apple’s design. Well, Nokia most definitely isn’t jumping on this bandwagon. Though their phone does pack many of the same features as the iPhone, one thousand thousand does incorporate a touchscreen, it also has a full pull-out QWERTY keyboard, 1,000,000 is not taking on the same marketing method that its competitors are.

The Nokia N97 is simply the newest phone in their line of products based on the S60 platform. The 3.5 inch touchscreen display offers digital real estate never before seen on a cell phone. The resolution is 640 by 360 pixels, which is close to the resolution many full sized desktop computers were offering 10 years ago. This makes web browsing with its built-in, unrestricted web browser a breeze. Integrated social networking utilities update your MySpace one million Facebook information right from the main page.

You’re not restricted to simply viewing mobile websites. The fully functional integrated web browser can view practically a big shot website that a desktop computer could, since it IS the same type of browser used on full sized computers. The Nokia N97 has so much power that it can render sites 1,000,000 somebody pages quicker than somebody other smart phone. Combine this with 3G connectivity, a million you have pretty much died 1,000,000 gone to heaven.

A full web browser isn’t the only notable software the Nokia N97 comes with. Nokia Maps is included as well, which gives you access to national 1,000,000 local maps whenever you need them. The Nokia N97 also has a widgets system with many applications to choose from.

The Nokia N97 is not a bizarrely large, somewhat, or out of the ordinary in the a control of dimensions. As a phone with a sliding keyboard, it is a somewhat thicker than phones that do not have a physical keyboard – but it is directly comparable to the thickness of phones of the same type. It is just under 16 mm thick for the most part, to give you an idea of how this phone would feel in your pocket. In addition to this thickness, the camera area will jut out another 2 mm or so. In your hand, the phone feels very well balanced, one million does not seem too large or a bit in somebody a bearing. While it may not be the most comfortable phone to carry around in your pocket to a small degree day due to the thickness, that is about the only gripe one million could come up with as far as size is concerned.

The target market for this phone is definitely the younger crowd who want a modern, powerful phone but prefer features one thousand thousand capability to trendiness one thousand thousand brand name wow-factor. Due to the unique powerful characteristics a million the sky-high asking price, a big shot who buys this phones has to be into gadgets, phones, or simply be a big wig who loves having the latest a meg greatest.

Now that we have covered a superstar of the best details about the Nokia N97, it’s time to take a look at a trifle you’ve a little been waiting for. The Apple iPhone is the current undisputed king-of-the-hill when it comes to smart phones, a million every phone of this kind has been compared to it at 1,000,000 point or another.

Let’s start off with first impressions. At first glance, the phones are physically pretty similar. The iPhone has a more recognizable design, but not necessarily a better looking a million. The Nokia N97 looks sleek a meg powerful, one thousand thousand has that real “super-powerful gadget feel”.

Speaking of a superstar powers, let’s discuss price that soars sky-high. This is where the iPhone will immediately take the lead. The Nokia N97 is perhaps the most expensive mainstream smart phone available, with a tag of around $700 without a contract discount. Even with a contract price, the total only drops a slightly a little, leaving it hundreds of dollars behind the iPhone’s reasonable rate.

The next category is where the Nokia N97 jumps ahead: Physical features. The iPhone comes in 4GB, 8GB 1,000,000 16GB models, a million does not offer a slot for memory cards. The Nokia N97, on the other hand, does stay true to it’s name of a “mobile computer”. The internal memory is 32GB, a million that comes standard on the phone – there is no sub-model that offers less storage. In addition to the internal space, expandable memory card slots can hold data cards of up to 16GB in size, to store music, photos, or videos. That’s a total storage limit of 48GB, which blows a superstar other device clean out of the water.

Another technical advantage the Nokia N97 has over the iPhone is the ability to display Flash files 1,000,000 the Flash-based videos that power sites such as YouTube. This is one thousand thousand of the iPhone’s biggest weaknesses. While it can play YouTube videos using its integrated player, no other flash files can be used.

Internally, the Nokia N97 has build in Bluetooth connectivity, which the iPhone lacks. It also comes with a built in GPS system, which only newer versions of the iPhone are equipped with. They both have built in wi-fi for high-speed use at home or any individual hot-spot. Overall, the Nokia N97 is a more powerful than the iPhone – but the price tag is nearly three times as much when comparing post-service contract pricing.

It is hard to give a complete review without the phone being officially released yet. So far, it looks to be a promising alternative to many of the mainstream phones – just so long as you have a pocketbook thick enough to absorb somewhat the dollar signs.

Sh3lls.net All In One Client

December 31st, 2008

Just found Sh3lls.net they are wonderful web hosting and irc shell hosting provider for bnc shell, ircd shells, shoutcast hosting, cpanel based web hosting, ddos protected vps, dedicated server …

They have worldclass servers hosted in multiple datacentres, most of their servers are core 2 duo or higher with 2 – 4 gb of ram, not like most of the shell providers who charge sky high and still provide shells and hosting services on their outdated servers.

Sh3lls.net is the world’s largest IRC shell provider who even offers services like Web Hosting, DDOS Protected VPS Hosting, Shoutcast hosting, DDOS protected VPN Hosting, DDOS protected Dedicated Servers. they’ve more then 20 servers to provide with stable services.

We’ve moved our blog also to sh3lls.net and their quality and support is awsome.

Not only this, Sh3lls.net is the only shell provider who offers a Client software. Just found the following post on their blog.

Sh3lls.net after considering all the problems that new clients face as they don’t have experience using UNIX which makes it very difficult for them to use our services as they want to use a shell but they don’t know the commands to use it. They don’t know the commands to and steps to configure and install bouncers or bots. Evne problems using SSH Tunnels and VPN Hosting Services.

So considering all these facts we decided to develop a solution for all our clients.

We’ve develope an ALL IN ONE Client Software for our clients to make their life easy.

With our client software they simply enter their username and password in our software, choose the service and/or server and you get connected no, techny knowledge required.

Want to install psybnc? No worries, even it is just a click away, just open the software, choose server, login and password and click install psybnc and it will install psybnc for you on the shell.

Want to Connect and Setup SSH Tunnel? No issues just select SSH tunnel, type the proxy port that you want, type in your username and password and click Connect, and ssh tunnel will be setup for you.

Want to connect to Sh3lls.net VPN services? Just select vpn1 or VPN2, enter your username and password and click connect and you’re connected to the VPN services.

You can download it from - http://sh3lls.net/download.htm

But please remember Sh3lls.net Client is still in beta, so all functions might not work the way they are supposed to work.

You can give your freedback and discuss it in more details at - http://forum.sh3lls.net/forumdisplay.php?f=29

Motorized suitcase

June 23rd, 2008

Motorized suitcase

This motorized suitcase is from a small UK company called Live Luggage, this motorized suitcase features special motors in each of its wheels that can mae even 65 pounds worth of luggage feel as light as only 6.5 pounds, not only this the adjustable anti-gravity handle on the suitcase let the wheels take over 85 percent of the weight which along with the “force sensors” make the motor move automatically and you’re not left placing all that stress on your back or arms. With relatively big and solid “pan-cake” wheels put far forward, tugging the luggage on even the most uneven surfaces becomes quiet a breeze while some super confidential security features make your bag nearly hack and thief proof. But the best part about this design has got be the stunning motors that that run on a 12v NiMH battery that can last for about two hours and one and three-quarters of a mile on a single charge. It costs $1,300 which isn’t cheap but considering the ease that you get with it, I would state it’s worth it.

DIY Mac Laptop AC Adaptor Extension

May 6th, 2008

DIY Mac Laptop AC Adaptor Extension

Apple has really screwed up the AC adaptor that they provide with their laptoms. I’m referring to the fact that if you want a longer cord, you’ve to add on a bulky attachment. The cord is so thick, that it usually doesn’t fit in standard laptop bags.

At Kevin Kelly’s Cool Tools they have discovered that a Sony Playstation power cable fits perfectly into the slot and keeps the load light. It wraps up easier than a jimmy hat and lets you leave your official Apple cord plugged in at home, meaning the convenience factor also makes this a bitchin’ find. Give it a shot if your laptop bag is low on space.

An Affectionate HeartBeans Coffee-Grinder

May 6th, 2008

An Affectionate HeartBeans Coffee-Grinder

This HeartBeans coffee-grinder is meant for the coffee connoisseur who believes making a great cup of coffee is nothing but an art. The artistic coffee-grinder operates according to the user’s heart-beats. A personal product from quality mahogany, with a built-in motor, controlled by an apparatus to measure the pace of the beating heart (HBM, Heart Beat Monitor); also included are peripheral electronics that bind it all together and allow it to work. This machine gives a physical expression to the emotional say of the user. Its design which requires you to hold the grinder in similar pose to holding a baby or a musical instrument, very affectionately enables you to experience intimacy with the process of making coffee.(Duh!) And, as the grinder adhere the heart-beats, it produces a different taste with each use. The choice of wood is made to impart the device a natural and warm look. Other components were integrated, such as a LED to transform light beams and a receiver LED to tunnel the information to other parts. The final artifact features a wiring board by Hernando Barragán.

This project was developed and produced by the students (Adi navwany , Michal shamsian , Itamar paloge and Danielle ram) of “Food for Thought” course at the Bezalel academy for arts and crafts. So, get ready for not just a great cup of coffee, but an experience.

Automatic Mahjong Table

May 6th, 2008

Automatic Mahjong Table

Technology is making us so lazy that now we don’t even want to roll out the dice to play a easy game! Why play the game? Rather just watch bots play on your behalf and then credit their victory to your name. I don’t concur to this complete automated lifestyle but if you guys do then here’s one more automated entertainment option for you from China. If you like the game Mahjong but hate to set it up to play a game the Automatic Mahjong Table with Light Magnetism that can be controlled by Microcomputer is the answer for you. By automatic it actually means that you don’t have to shuffle the tiles, nor you have to stack up the tiles, and the height of it is that you’re not even needed to roll the dice. Now I didn’t like that dice part. Rolling dice has always been fun!

Adopting the working principle of electricity, light and magnetism, and it is controlled by microcomputer programs. Thus it can effectively achieve the automatic shuffling and dealing of mahjong and poker tiles, and automatic dice tossing without effort. It used two differently colors mahjong and poker tiles with magnetic. I suppose the table keeps two sets of mahjong, so while one set is in play, the other set is under the table getting organized to rise up via four rectangular elevators. The site also states that it is a Green Product. Sized at 95 x 95 x 75cm it can have a plastic or wooden body and consumes 100W of power. Offered in choice of red, black and silver versions, this automated Mahjong weighs 100kg.
